<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pre-treatment method for a traverse coating process by which the coating unevenness or uneven thickness of coating material on the surface of a base body part of a conductive roller or the like is solved with a simple way. <P>SOLUTION: In the traverse coating method for applying the coating material onto the surface of the base body part of the conductive roller 1 or the like, the surface of the base body part of the roller 1 is modified right before the coating step by rotating the roller 1 and irradiating the surface of the base body part of the roller 1 with plasm by a plasma irradiation means 17 and relatively moving the plasma irradiation means 17 and the roller 1 to each other in the axial direction. Thus, the surface of the base body part of the conductive roller 1 or the like is modified under the plasma atmosphere relatively easily produced, consequently the wettability of the coating material is improved, coating unevenness or the nonuniformity of the thickness is solved and as a result, the adhesiveness of the coating material is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
