The method involves conveying the filter strand (3) in a longitudinal axial direction and inserting an object in an insertion zone in the filter strand. The filter strand is subsequently compressed and the object is covered by the filter strand. The object is inserted in the filter strand by generating a blind hole-like cavity. An independent claim is also included for a device for use in machine of the tobacco processing industry, particularly filter strand machine, for insertion of objects into a filter strand of the tobacco-processing industry.
