An audio signal input method in case of video photographing in a portable terminal and a device thereof are provided to differently input audio signals in a directional-pattern stepwise way through distance information about an object, thereby more clearly receiving desired signals. Distance information between a portable terminal and an object is obtained(410-430). One of more than one of beam patterns is determined to enable audio signals received through the first and second omni-directional microphones, which are separately installed, to be inputted with predetermined directivity according to the distance information(440,452). The audio signals are inputted according to the determined beam pattern.
