A REFRIGERATOR INCLUDING A HEATER FOR PREVENTING DEW FORMATION AND A METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A refrigerator having a heater for preventing dew formation and a method for controlling the same are provided to minimize power consumption to operate a heater for preventing dew formation through controlling an operation rate of the heater of a refrigerator for preventing dew formation by sensing the outdoor air temperature and air humidity. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a refrigerator having a heater for preventing dew formation is as follows. A present operation mode of a refrigerator is decided. The outdoor air temperature and air humidity are sensed. Whether or not the outdoor air temperature and air humidity sensed per each operation mode of the refrigerator are within an area of the air temperature and air humidity in which the dew forms on a surface of the refrigerator is decided. In case the outdoor air temperature and air humidity are within the area of the air temperature and air humidity in which the dew forms, the heater for preventing dew formation is operated during a set-up time. The operating rate of the heater for preventing dew formation is controlled by controlling an operating time of the heater according to the outdoor air temperature and air humidity.
