PURPOSE: A refrigerator and a method for controlling a dehumidification mode thereof are provided to prevent dew formation by effectively dehumidify a refrigerator compartment and compensating the temperature of the refrigerator compartment. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a dehumidification mode of a refrigerator is as follows. It is determined whether a dehumidification mode is required by detecting the surrounding temperature of a refrigerator. If it is determined that the dehumidification mode is required, a refrigerator compartment is simultaneously heated and cooled by operating a fan and a compressor to compensate the temperature of the refrigerator compartment and dehumidify the refrigerator compartment.
