PURPOSE: A semiconductor memory device and an operating method thereof are provided to improve repair efficiency by sharing a redundancy column between different groups in a wide input and output method. CONSTITUTION: First and second memory groups(301, 302) includes memory cells and redundancy cells. Second main page buffers and second redundancy page buffers are connected between a second memory group and a second inner data line. A data transmission circuit(350) transmits data stored in a first main page buffer of a fail column to a second redundancy page buffer before a program operation or transmits the data stored in a second redundancy page buffer to a first main page buffer of the fail column before the data is outputted after a read operation.
