METHOD FOR BATTERY PROTECTION OF HYBRID VEHICLE

PURPOSE: A battery protection method of hybrid vehicles is provided to improve durability of the battery and safety of users by preventing overcharge of high voltage battery. CONSTITUTION: A battery protection method of hybrid vehicles comprises the next steps: determining whether the vehicle is going over the speed limit by detecting variation and vehicle speed of an accelerating pedal(S101,S102); if a motor fails in a high speed operation, the vehicle changes into an over-charge protection mode(S105); changing into a malfunction speed change map from a general operation speed when the vehicle is in the over-charge protection mode(S106); practicing a shift control after deciding target transmission gear; and maintaining current transmission gear by applying a general operation speed change map. The vehicle does not change into the battery over-charge protection mode unless the vehicle excesses specific speed.
