PURPOSE: An intrusion detection device and method are provided to effectively reduce intrusion sensing misinformation ratio and to improve reliability of a crime prevention system and to tighten security. CONSTITUTION: An intrusion detection device is composed of distance detection part(110), an image sensing part(120), and an intrusion determining part(130). The distance detection part senses the distance from an intrusion sensing target. The image sensing part calculates an image change value between video data inputted from an imaging device. The intrusion determining part calculates a reference image change value based on a distance value inputted from the distance detection part. The distance detection part determines whether an intruder trespasses or not by comparing the image change value and the reference image change value.
