A disposable wearing article capable of absorbing bodily fluids is improved to facilitate the mounting of leakage prevention dams thereto, the disposable wearing article being provided with a liquid permeable top sheet having ridges and troughs which extend parallel to each other. A bodily fluid absorptive core material (13) of a disposable wearing article capable of absorbing bodily fluids is sandwiched between a liquid permeable top sheet (11) and a liquid impermeable back sheet (12). The top sheet (11) has formed on the outer surface (58) thereof ridges (61) and troughs (62) which extend parallel to each other in the front-rear direction (A). Leakage prevention dams (31) are formed on both the outer sides of the core member (13) in the widthwise direction (B). The top sheet (11) is compressed at side portions (60b) thereof to reduce the height of the ridges (61), said side portions (60b) extending beyond at least portions of side edge sections (51) of the core material (13) to the outer sides of the core material (13).
