METHOD FOR PRODUCING HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE

Provided is a method for producing a honeycomb structure having honeycomb units, comprising inorganic particles, in which a plurality of cells that extend from a first end face to a second end face in the longitudinal direction are divided by cell walls. The inorganic particles have a specific surface area of 50 m2/g or more, and the method comprises (a) a step of preparing a plurality of honeycomb units having at least one bonding surface for which a paste for adhesion layers is to be formed in a later step, (b) a step of impregnating with water at least a part of at least one bonding surface of each honeycomb unit, (c) a step of preparing the paste for adhesion layers comprising at least inorganic particles, a binder and water, (d) a step of applying the paste for adhesion layers to the bonding surface of the honeycomb units and bonding the honeycomb units together, and (e) a step of drying, degreasing and solidifying the paste for adhesion layers to form an adhesion layer.
