Provided are a device and a method for automatically creating the altitudes of tunnel entrance and exit. The method comprises the steps of: selecting, from a map data storage unit, target entrance and exit where the altitudes of tunnel entrance and exit are specified; specifying road links including the selected target entrance and exit as target road links; extracting, as corrected spots, spots apart from the selected target entrance and exit toward the outside of the tunnel along the target road links by predetermined distances; specifying the altitudes of the extracted corrected-spots as corrected-spot altitudes; and specifying the corrected-spot altitudes as the first altitudes of the target entrance and exit.
