CHANNEL SCANNING METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR WIRELESS NETWORKS

A channel scanning method and system for wireless networks are disclosed in the present invention. The method includes that Access Points (APs) and/or Non-AP Stations associated with the APs perform channel scanning in the following one or more modes: mode A, the APs perform Overlapping Basic Service Set (OBSS) channel scanning on channels in one or more different channelization sets at the same period or the different periods; mode B, the part or all of the Non-AP Stations associated with the APs perform the OBSS channel scanning on channels in one or more different channelization sets at the same period or the different periods; and mode C, the APs or the part or all of the Non-AP Stations associated with the APs perform the single OBSS channel scanning on one or more channelization sets according to the event triggering. Use of the present invention can plan a channel scanning process under the condition of the OBSS for a device supporting several channelization set schemes.
