A battery assembly comprises a casing (1, la-lf) extending along a lengthwise direction, and including a bottom face (113, 113a-113f) and a top face (114, 114a-114f); a plurality of battery units (2a-2d) disposed within the casing, wherein each battery unit has a main body extending along its own centre line, and comprises a lower end face (21a-21d) close to the bottom face and an upper end face (22a-22d) disposed oppositely; the plurality of battery units therein comprise a first battery unit and a second battery unit disposed serially, and a third battery unit disposed adjacent to the first battery unit and the second battery unit. The lower end of the third battery unit is located between the upper and lower end faces of the first battery unit, while the upper end face of the third battery unit is located between the upper and lower end faces of the second battery unit. An electric tool using this battery assembly has a compact profile, and good flexibility and portability.
