PURPOSE: A data detection apparatus and method thereof are provided to perform the recognition function of a light source and the reception unit function of optical communication data through a camera using the intensive scanning function of the camera. CONSTITUTION: A multiplexer unit(120) outputs location information about pixels of detected images A control unit(130) searches specific area from an output image. The control unit intensively scans the specific area through the outputted location information. The control unit outputs a scan result signal. A filter unit(140) eliminates the source of a specific frequency bandwidth from the output signal of the control unit.
