PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to minimize influences due to leakage currents without increasing the capacitance of a capacitor. CONSTITUTION: A data voltage(Vdat) and a common voltage(Vcom) are applied to a plurality of pixels in a data write step. A common shift voltage is applied to the plurality of pixels in a maintenance step. The common shift voltage(Vcom_shift) is applied during a maintenance period. The common shift voltage is shifted to a polarity opposite to a gate-off voltage.
