A negative type resist composition for a color filter, a color filter using the same, and a liquid crystal display are provided to ensure excellent paint dispersion and alkali development. A negative type resist composition for a color filter comprises (A) a pigment dispersant, (B) a pigment, (C) an alkaline-soluble resin, (D) a polyfunctional monomer, (E) a photo initiator and (F) a solvent, wherein the pigment dispersant (A) is a block copolymer comprising a constituting unit(1) represented by the following general formula (1) and a constituting unit(2) represented by the following general formula (2), and further wherein an amino group possessed by the constituting unit(1) and an acidic organic phosphorus compound represented by the general formula (3) form a salt.
