A collapsible support structure for a passenger conveyor, comprising a first side extending along the length of the passenger conveyor, a second side generally parallel to and spaced apart from the first side, a first plate rotatably coupled to the first side, and a second plate rotatably coupled at one end to the second side and rotatably coupled at an opposite end to the first plate is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method of forming a truss comprising rotatably coupling a first side to a first plate, rotatably coupling a second side to a second plate; and rotatably coupling the first plate to the second plate, such that rotation of the first and second plates permit the first side and second side to be moved closer together.
