The present invention is a perch for a bird feeder to be attached below the feed holes. The unwanted use of the feeder by heavier creatures including large birds and squirrels makes the perch design important in the success of a bird feeder. The present perch is a cantilever made from a convex strip of thin springy material that is inherently straight and rigid as can be witnessed in a carpenter's retractable tape measure. The perch can easily support the light weight of song bird, but it suddenly buckles downward under a too--heavy load whereby the unwanted creature slides off the feeder and the buckled perch automatically snaps back to its original horizontal position without any damage.
