Provided are: a glass plate which can have higher solar transmittance than those of conventional soda-lime-silica glass plates when the iron content in the glass plate is the same level as those in the conventional glass plates and can have the same level of solar transmittance as those of the conventional glass plates when the iron content in the glass plate is higher than those of the conventional glass plates, and which has good productivity; and a process for producing the glass plate. The glass plate is produced by a float technique or a download technique and comprises a soda-lime-silica glass comprising at least MgO, CaO, Na2O and Al2O3, wherein [MgO] is 4.5% or more, [MgO]/[CaO] is greater than 1, and the value Q (=([MgO]/[CaO])×([CaO]+[Na2O]-[Al2O3])) is 20 or more, wherein [MgO] represents the content of MgO, [CaO] represents the content of CaO, [Na2O] represents the content of Na2O, and [Al2O3] represents the content of Al2O3 (each of the contents is expressed by mass% in terms of oxide content).
