A device for printing a bar code of variable data and the motheod thereof are disclosed. The method comprises: printing the bar code of variable data corresponding to the first bar code data on a medium by an inkjet printing device (S10); conveying the medium to a detection area by a driving device (S20); scanning the bar code of variable data on the medium by an online detecting device in the detection area, and getting the second bar code data (S30); and comparing the first bar code data with the second bar code data, and giving an alarm when these two bar code data are not identical (S40). The invention can improve a printing up-to-standard rate of the bar code of variable data.
