The coupling device (1) has a housing (4) including a torque transmission device (2) engaged and disengaged in an axial direction. A wear adjuster (3) includes a spindle drive (8) with a drive pinion (9) and a drive pawl (10) that is elastically pretensioned against the pinion and arranged at a housing side. The pawl is form-fittingly engaged in the pinion if the transmission device reaches a certain wear condition for rotating an adjusting ring (7) for wear adjustment during disengaging of the device. The pawl includes a stopper (11) attached with a counter-stopper (12) of the ring.
