The tongue (2) has an insertion section (26) inserted into a belt buckle and lying in a plane (42). A connection section (28) connects the tongue with a belt strap, and is arranged in a displaceable manner in transverse directions (12, 14) relative to the insertion section such that a projection of the insertion section in a longitudinal direction (4) is arranged at distance from a projection of the connection section in the transverse section. The insertion section is formed by a lower section of a metal plate (16), and the connection section is formed by a plastic part (34). An independent claim is also included for a safety arrangement comprising a belt tongue.
