PURPOSE: A faucet having a surface protective layer for improving surface contamination resistance and a surface treating method for the same are provided to allow water to be quickly removed from the surface of the faucet by forming a glass coating with a coating agent including silica. CONSTITUTION: A faucet having a surface protective layer is formed from base metal, and the surface of the faucet is coated with a coating agent. The coating agent comprises silica of 10-25 weight%, xylene, trimethylbenzene, and ethylbenzene. A surface treating method for the faucet comprises a step of removing moisture and contaminants from the surface of the faucet, a step of applying silica, xylene, trimethylbenzene, and ethylbenzene on the pre-treated surface, a step of gently rubbing the surface of the coating to remove the remaining solvent, and a step of hardening the coating for 20 hours or longer.
