The exhaust gas cooler has a predetermined number of flow channels which are arranged for conducting exhaust gas. The flow channels are arranged in a housing to facilitate thermal exchange with a fluid for cooling the exhaust gas. A filter section (3) is structurally integrated in the exhaust gas cooler for filtering out particles from the flow of exhaust gas. The filter section is mounted within the housing. The housing is arranged to conduct fluid to facilitate the thermal exchange.
