Compositions comprise by weight 100 parts of a vinyl chloride polymer containing at least 80 weight per cent of polymerized vinyl chloride, 2 to 40 parts of an ethylene/vinyl alkanoate copolymer containing 2 to 65 weight per cent of the vinyl alkanoate, and 1 to 20 parts of a chlorinated polyolefin. The vinyl chloride polymer may be polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate or stearate, a dichloroethylene, methyl or butyl esters or nitriles of acrylic or methacrylic acid, diethyl maleate or dibutyl fumarate. The ethylene may be copolymerized with vinyl formate, acetate, propionate, butyrate, octanoate, decanoate or stearate. The polyolefin may be a polymer of ethylene, propylene, butene or isobutylene, or a copolymer of ehtylene with propylene or butene. Conventional additives, e.g. pigments and stabilizers such as alkyl tin mercaptides, dibutyl tin laurate and dibutyl tin maleate, may be present and the compositions extruded to form pipes and tubes or blow moulded to form bottles. Examples describe compositions comprising polyvinyl chloride, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers, chlorinated polyethylene, mineral oil and organotin mercaptide. |
