PURPOSE: A light emitting diode and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to form a metal pattern in a clad layer and use the metal pattern as a current path from an electrode, thereby activating spreading of currents. CONSTITUTION: A buffer layer(130) is located on a substrate(110). A first cladding layer(140) is located on the buffer layer. An active layer(150) is located on the first cladding layer. A second clad layer(160) is located on the active layer. A transparent electrode(170) is located on the second clad layer.
