A hinge suitable for use with a drop-down door comprises a first hinge plate 14, with a flange 30 for attaching the plate to the door frame, which is pivoted by a pivot pin 18 to a second plate 16 which is attached to the door by means of a flange 34. The plate 14 is formed with a lug 28 which slides in the arc-shaped slot 26 in the plate 16. A strip of yieldable material 20 is attached to the second plate 16 with rivets 22 and 24 so that the lower edge of the strip slides along the surface of the lug. The strip may contain recesses in which the lug interlocks, holding the door in a semi-open position. |
