A fluid pulsator comprises a jet nozzle 25, Fig. 3a, for directing a fluid jet against the edge of a wedge-shaped member 42 to produce oscillations the frequency of which can be varied by varying the distance h1 of the wedge from the jet or the velocity of the jet. A detailed report of this edge-tone phenomena is contained in the Proceedings of the Physical Society, Vol.49, (1937) at page 493 et seq. The jet may be deflected by control signals supplied at 34, 36 to direct the jet to outlets 24, 26 and oscillations are then produced by cusps 54, 56 in conjunction with the vortex action produced at side walls 60 of the interaction chambers. The device may be used as a fluid AND/OR gate by providing control signal inputs (66), (68), (70), (72), Fig.4, to direct the jet (78) to one or other or both of the outlets (74), (76). |
