<p>A power supply system supplies gas discharge lamp unit (5) arc power and cathode power. The system includes an emergency driver (17) for receiving power from a power supply (15). The driver provides the lamp arc power and the cathode power. The driver adjusts the total power provided to the lamp unit and varies the proportion of the total power provided as the arc power and as the cathode power in order to provide optimised arc power and cathode power according to the circumstances.</p> |
