Method for cleaning thermoplastic polymers

The device has a producing and conveying unit (8) for producing and conveying a polymer melt (4). The unit includes a heating unit (10) and a filter unit (12) that comprises another heating unit (18). The filter unit has particle filters whose mesh size lies in a range of 200-500 micrometers, and micro-screens whose mesh size lies in a range of 20-50 micrometers. The latter heating unit adjusts temperature of the particle filters independent of polymer melt temperature. A sensor determines melt pressure against the filter unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning thermoplastic polymers.
