1,226,147. Polyesterimide/phenolic resin compositions. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 23 Sept., 1968 [29 Jan., 1968], No. 45190/68. Heading C3R. [Also in Division H1] A wire-coating composition comprises (a) a polyesterimide prepared from 2À01 parts by weight of ethylene glycol, 8À57 parts by weight of dimethyl terephthalate, 3À74 parts by weight of bis-(aminophenyl)methane, 7À27 parts by weight of trimellitic anhydride and 10À98 parts by weight of tris-(2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, (b) 1À01 parts by weight of a titanate ester, (c) 1À73 parts by weight of a polyisocyanate, (d) 1À75 parts by weight of a phenol-formaldehyde resin and (e) 0À1-0À5 weight per cent of elemental or chemically combined Ce, Co, Mn, Zn, Fe, Pb or Zr. The polyesterimide may be prepared in a solvent. The titanate ester may be of formula Ti(OR) 4 where R is aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl. The metal may be in the form of a soap, e.g. Zn naphthenate, Mn naphthenate, Co naphthenate, Fe naphthenate or Pb octoate. In an example the composition is applied to copper magnet wire and crosslinked by heating. |
