The invention comprises compounds of the formula in which R 1 represents a halogen atom or the group ON-, O 2 N-, CH 3 S-, CH 3 SO- or CH 3 SO 2 -, R 2 represents a hydrogen atom or halogen atom or a lower alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R 3 represents a group -CF 2 Cl, -CFCl 2 or -CCl 3 and a process for the preparation thereof comprising reacting a phenol of the formula with a halogen-nitrobenzene of the formula wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 have the meanings given above with dehydrohalogenation and if desired with further oxidation of R, if it represents ON-, CH 3 S- or CH 3 SO- or if desired with further halogenating. Examples are furnished. The products are employed as active ingredients in pesticidal, especially herbicidal compositions. |
