Preparing materials based on silver, comprises (a) providing first alloy having silver and at least one oxidizable alloying element, (b) increasing a surface area of the first alloy containing silver and at least one oxidizable alloying element, to obtain second alloy, (c) carrying out first heat treatment of the second alloy, where the heat treatment is carried out at reducing atmosphere, to obtain third alloy, and (d) carrying out second heat treatment of the third alloy, where the heat treatment is carried out in an oxygen containing atmosphere, to obtain fourth alloy.
