A connecting device for a shielded telecommunication line, the connecting device comprising two or more signal contacts 210, a shielding contact 220, and an electrical indicator device 100, wherein the electrical indicator device 100 is electrically connected such that it can be provided with electrical power through the shielding contact 220 and one of the signal contacts 210. Also disclosed is a shielded telecommunication line comprising the connecting device, a patch panel device or wall outlet comprising the connecting device, and a power supply for providing electrical power to the indicator device 100 of the connecting device.
