A hand-operated blind rivet setting tool for setting rivets of various diameters by means of a break-off mandrel comprises a pair of handles 20, 22, pivoted together on a pin 24, a channelsection member 28 which is pivotally mounted on the handle 20 by a pin 30 and a turret 21 which is rotatably mounted on the handle 22 by a screw 17. An anvil 26 is formed on the handle 22 and has a hole to receive the rivetsetting mandrel. The turret 21 has two holes 23 and 25, to suit two different diameters of mandrel, either hole being brought into alignment with the anvil by rotating the turret. The channel member 28 has a portion 32 which forms a mandrel gripping jaw and against which the mandrel is clamped by a jaw 34, pivoted to the member 28 by a pin 94. The jaw 34 is biased by a spring 104 and its movement is limited by a pin 96 which passes through an oversize hole 98 in the jaw 34 and is fast in holes 92 in the member 28. The active edge of the jaw 34 has serrations which lie on an arc of a circle of radius "r". The distance a has a value of 0À25-0À50 inch, the distance b is 0À125- 0À375 inch and the radius r is 1À10-1À30 inch. |
