PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a gesture and a device thereof are provided to recognize a gesture which is different from a writing action without clicking a button or menu arranged on a part of a screen. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(410) receives a touch input. A gesture recognizing unit(420) recognizes a gesture input using a touch by an input device of the display unit. A control unit(430) executes a function assigned to a recognized gesture. The gesture recognizing unit recognizes a first gesture input using the touch by the input device of the display unit. The gesture recognizing unit recognizes a second gesture input.
