The provision of a coupling hub 3 and an anchoring plate 4 both rigidly connected to a rotor radially extending end part 2 characterizes a Foucault current brake comprising a rotor 1 having a series of partly spiral centrifugal fan blades 6 in the end part 2 to which is attached an annular portion surrounding part of a stator 9, 9<SP>1</SP> and provided with axially directed cooling fins 8. Applicable to vehicles, the stator comprises an anchoring plate 13 to which are bolted a stepped core 11 and jaw type polepieces 10, 15, and induction coils 16. In a modification, Fig. 3, the channels formed by the blades and ribs are interconnected.</p> |
