An explosive composition comprises by weight 90-95% ammonium nitrate having an average particle size below 2 mm., 1À3-3% of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon, and 1À75- 4-6% of a solid cyclic hydrocarbon or hydrocarbon derivative, for example naphthalene, resorcinol, or anthracene.
