C-ring-substituted pregn-4-ene-21,17-carbolactones,and pharmaceutical products comprising the same

Disclosed are pregn-4-ene-21,17-carbolactones of the general formula I, in which R6,7 is an a or b-methylene group and R9 is hydrogen and R11 is bromine, chlorine or fluorine; or R9 and R11 together are a bond. Representative compounds include 6b,7b;15b,16b-dimethylene-3-oxo-17-pregna-4,9(11)-diene-21,17b-carbolactone, 11b-chloro-6b,7b;15b,16b-dimethylene-3-oxo-17-pregn-4-ene-21,17b-carbolactone, 6b,7b;15b,16b-dimethylene-11b-fluoro-3-oxo-17-pregn-4-ene-21,17b-carbolactone and 6a,7a;15b,16b-dimethylene-11b-fluoro-3-oxo-17-pregn-4-ene-21,17b-carbolactone. Further disclosed is 11a-hydroxy-15b,16b-methyleneandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione as a starting compound for preparing the compounds of the general formula I as defined above. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical products which comprise at least one compound as defined above, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
