PROCESS FOR MAKING CRYSTALLINE ANHYDROUS DOCETAXEL

Disclosed is crystalline N-debenzoyl-N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-10-deacetyl taxol trihydrate. Also disclosed is a process of producing docetaxel trihydrate comprising a) combining docetaxel and acetonitrile; b) heating the mixture of step (a) to about 30-45 degrees C; c) adding water to the mixture of the heated mixture of step b); d) cooling the mixture of c) to about 10-300 degrees C to obtain a slurry; and e) filtering, washing, and drying the slurry of step (d) to obtain docetaxel trihydrate.
