FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: disclosed method involves dividing a pipeline into measuring sections, fixed connection, at the boundaries of each section, of measuring potential electrodes with a measuring device and current electrodes with a current supply conductor which is connected in a fixed manner at the beginning and at the end of the analysed pipeline. A comparison resistor is placed in direct contact with the first measuring section in order to determine the reference characteristic of electrical resistance of the metal making up the pipeline. Steady current is passed through all measuring sections and the comparison resistor. Potential drop on all measuring sections and the comparison resistor is measured; the ratio of potential drop on each measuring section to potential drop on the comparison resistor is calculated and said radio, which is numerically equal to the ratio of electrical resistance of each measuring section to the electrical resistance of the comparison resistor, is taken as the basic characteristic of electrical resistance of each measuring section during the initial measurement and as the present characteristic of electrical resistance of each measuring section in the following measurements taken after a period of time set by the monitoring procedure. The degree of corrosive wear of the material of the pipeline is estimated from the difference between values of the present and basic characteristics of the measuring sections. The invention can be used to monitor the corrosive state of underground and surface pipelines. ^ EFFECT: simpler and faster process of determining corrosive wear of a pipeline. ^ 1 dwg |
