[Also in Division C1] In apparatus for the preparation of chromic anhydride, sodium dichromate anhydride introduced at 15 is dried by external heat exchanger 13 as it is conveyed by high speed rotary screw conveyor 6 to high speed rotary kneader and conveyer 7 where it is both rapidly mixed with sulphuric acid introduced at 16 and rapidly conveyed by rotating inclined pins 17a to centrifugal continuous evaporator 8 where the reaction product is degassed soon after the reaction is complete to prevent decomposition of the chromic anhydride by being flung by blades 19a to form a thin film on the inside of wall 12. Gases are exhausted at 23 and chromic anhydride reaction product is drawn off at 22. |
