COATING COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR FORMING COATING FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition which can give an upper layer coating film having a similar reflectance-improving effect without being affected by the infrared ray reflectance of a lower layer, and to provide a method for forming a coating film.

SOLUTION: The coating composition containing an infrared ray-transmitting deep color pigment (A) and an aluminum flake pigment (B) is characterized in that the weight ratio of the infrared ray-transmitting deep color pigment (A) to the aluminum flake pigment (B) satisfies a condition of 0.05≤(A)/(B)≤1.60. By the constitution, a base coating film 12 can obtain a similar reflectance-improving effect without being affected by the infrared ray reflectance of an intermediate coating film 11 formed under the base coating film 12, even when the intermediate coating film 11 has either of a highly infrared ray-reflecting color and a low infrared ray-reflecting color.
