IPV6 ADDRESS MANAGEMENT METHOD AND GATEWAY PERFORMING SAME

An IPv6 address management method used in a gateway includes: receiving a packet having an IPv6 address; extracting a MAC address from the IPv6 address of the packet; generating a compression address by inserting a pre-defined bit in the MAC address; and storing the IPv6 address and the compression address in a mapping table.
