<p>A method and an apparatus for transmitting media content are disclosed, which include: acquiring the size of the receiving buffer based on the end-to-end round-trip delay and the coding rate of the media content, acquiring the transmitting rate based on said size of the receiving buffer and said end-to-end round-trip delay; and transmitting the media content at a preset rate according to said transmitting rate. In the present invention, the transmitting rate is acquired based on the receiving buffer of the receiving end of the media content and the end-to-end round-trip delay, and the media content is transmitted to the receiving end of the media content at said transmitting rate, so that the transmitting rate will be controlled within the range of the real coding rate of the media content by the transmitting end of the media content, and the problem of serious waste of network bandwidth caused by excessive occupation of network bandwidth will be avoided.</p> |
