PURPOSE: A handrail driving control device is provided to control a handrail driver and a stage driver based on a handrail speed detected by a handrail speed detector and a stage speed detected by a stage speed detector. CONSTITUTION: The stage(2) of a passenger conveyor(1) is connected to a stage chain(3). A stage driver(5) driving the stage is formed on the upper side of the passenger conveyor. The power of the stage driver is transmitted to a sprocket(8) through a chain(6). The power of a handrail driver(11) is transmitted to a handrail driver(13) through a chain(12). The speed of the stage is detected by a stage speed detector(7).
