The present invention provides a three dimensional video recognition system that can suppress the occurrence of cross-talk, obtains a sufficient shutter effect, and furthermore obtains a bright three-dimensional video display without a concomitant increase in power consumption. The present invention further provides active shutter glasses. The three-dimensional video recognition system is configured containing a video display device and active shutter glasses; the active shutter glasses have a first polarizing plate, a liquid crystal cell, and a second polarizing plate in the given order from the outer surface side; the video display device has a third polarizing plate provided to the observed surface side; and the single transmittance of the first polarizing plate is greater than the single transmittance of the second polarizing plate.
