<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and dehydrating machine capable of reducing a water supply quantity when water is supplied before retry. <P>SOLUTION: When a clutch switching command is output, a washing machine executes improvement processing (step S6) every time clutch switching is determined to be unsuccessful by clutch switching determination means (steps S3,S7), while elevating a water supply level by supplying water (step S5). Every time the improvement processing is executed, it is determined whether the clutch switching succeeds or not.
