A process for producing light olefins from methanol or dimethyl ether

Disclosed is a process for producing light olefins from methanol and/or dimethyl ether, which comprises the following steps: (a) introducing raw materials containing methanol and/or dimethyl ether into the bottom of a fluidized bed reactor and contacting said materials with catalysts in the dense phase zone and transition zone of said fluidized bed reactor, to produce effluent I containing unreacted raw materials, reaction products and entrained solid granular catalysts; (b) introducing a terminator into said effluent I in the upper part of said transition zone and/or the lower part of a gas-solid separating zone in the fluidized bed reactor, to form effluent II, wherein said terminator is at least one of substances selected from water, C-C alcohols, C-C ethers, C hydrocarbons and C-C aromatic hydrocarbons; and (c) introducing effluent II into gas-solid separating zone in the upper part of said fluidized bed reactor, to obtain a gaseous product stream and solid catalysts by gas-solid separation, then said gaseous product stream being subjected to a post-treatment section, while said solid catalysts being recycled to the dense phase zone in the bottom of the fluidized bed reactor, or being regenerated in a regenerator after being stripped in a stripper.
