PON SYSTEM, STATION SIDE DEVICE OF THE SAME, OPTICAL RECEIVER, AND OPTICAL RECEPTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a station side device of a PON (Passive Optical Network) system capable of achieving high-speed response to a burst optical signal from a subscriber side device at low cost.

SOLUTION: The station side device comprises: a receiver to receive an optical signal and convert it to an electric signal; a detector to detect amplitude of the electric signal; a smoothing part to smooth a voltage value of one electric signal branched at a branch part; a comparator to compare a voltage value of the other electric signal branched at the branch part and the electric signal smoothed at the smoothing part to determine a logical value of the electric signal; and a controller to perform control so as to select a time constant of the smoothing part according to the amplitude detected at the detector.
